Privacy at Stanley Weather Record
Stanley Weather Record supports an interpretive exhibit at the Stanley Museum and is linked with the Sawtooth Interpretive & Historical Association. The weather record and interactive features work without cookies or Analytics.
Analytics choice
We use optional Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful. Analytics are turned off unless you specifically allow them.
If you allow analytics, Google Analytics may receive the page visited, the referring site, approximate location derived from network information, browser and device information, and basic engagement such as an outbound link click. For an outbound link click, the site only records the name of the external website.
Analytics are not used for advertising. Google Analytics does not receive names, email addresses, precise locations, Compare Your Place entries, selected dates or years, filters, game answers, or game scores.
Cookies and browser storage

- Your analytics choice is saved in your browser for 180 days.
- Google Analytics
- If allowed, Google Analytics may store cookies and a randomly assigned identifier in your browser. The cookies expire 180 days after you allow analytics.
Changing your choice
Use the “Privacy choices” control on any page to allow or turn off Analytics. Turning it off stops future collection in that browser and removes the Analytics cookies the site can access. Information already sent to Google is kept for the period configured in this site's Google Analytics account.
The weather record, Weather Detective, and Compare Your Place work without Analytics.
Hosting and site requests
Firebase App Hosting and Google Cloud process standard request information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include the requested address, time, browser information, and IP address. Google Cloud keeps these hosting logs for 30 days.
When you use Compare Your Place, the site temporarily uses your IP address for up to one hour to prevent excessive requests. The site does not add that address to its own logs.
Personal information
The site does not ask for your name, email address, or payment information. It does not sell personal information.
Google services
When analytics are allowed, the browser connects to Google Analytics and Firebase services. Google explains how it handles information from sites using its services in its data-use notice and privacy policy.
